Trevor Brown

Trevor Brown has been a favourite artist of mine for a few years; I rediscovered some of his work I had saved when looking through pictures from my old hard-drive.

Originally from Britain, Trevor Brown now resides in Japan; incorporating elements of Japanese popular culture with themes such as violence, medical fetish and paedophilia.

His unique painting of girls and dolls or ‘baby art’ are beautifully gruesome. His work has been featured as cover art for various recording artists, including a personal favourite of mine Venetian Snares.

Further details of his work, book collections and exhibits can be found here.
Lemon Drizzle Cake

I love to bake cakes. I also love to eat cake, so I try to limit my baking to special occasions. I made this lemon drizzle cake for my friend’s birthday last week and it was, if I do say so myself, really good. I must admit that I’ve cheated with the photo as I forgot to take one before it got eaten.
Original recipe taken from The Telegraph.
Ingredients:
125g/40z soft margarine/butter
175g/60z caster sugar
175g/6oz self raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 large free-range eggs
1 large or 2 small lemons- grated rind of
65ml/ 2.5 floz milk
For lemon syrup:
3 tbsp granulated sugar
Juice of lemons used for rind
Method:
Grease and line a 1kg/2lb loaf tin
Preheat Oven 180 degrees C (I found my cake was slightly over done on the outside, so you may want to try a little cooler the first time round)
Place all cake ingredients into a food processor and blend until really smooth and quite runny
Pour cake mixture into the prepared loaf tin and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes
Meanwhile, make the lemon syrup.
Dissolve the granulated sugar in the lemon juice.
When the cooking time is up, test that the cake is done by pushing a metal skewer into the centre, it comes out clean it’s done!
While the cake is still in the tin place it onto a cooling rack
Price the cake all over with the skewer and spoon the lemon syrup all over the cake until you have used all the syrup- it will go everywhere but do not worry it will set when it is cold.
Leave the cake in the tin until it is quite cold.
